Automatic transmission, no there is no drain plug but if you overfill it you can siphon it out of the dipstick tube or remove the transmission pan. Coolant, yes there is normally a petcock at the bottom of the radiator. That depends on what fluids you are referring to. the 4l60 or 4l80 does not have a drain plug. you might use a long tube to get into it far enough and use a pump to pull out what you want. Oldsmobile . How to Change the Brake Lights on a 2001 AltimaThe 2001 Nissan Altima taillight bulbs are located inside an access panel in the trunk. They can be replaced with just a single Phillips head screwdriver. The trim panels inside the trunk have several retainers on them, allowing the removal of the panels. The bulbs and sockets are located inside these access holes. Replacement bulbs are available through Nissan or most large auto parts retailers. The taillight and brake light share a single 3157 bulb. The turn signal uses a 3357 and the back light uses a 921. They are all housed in this assembly. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Open the trunk of your Nissan Altima and locate the access panels to the left and right side of the trunk opening. Select the panel to access the light that is out on the car. 2 Locate the three retainers on the panel and turn them counterclockwise with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the access panel away from the car body and lay it aside. Locate the bulb sockets inside the access hole, the top one is the brake/taillight, the middle one is the backup light and the bottom one is the turn signal. 3 Grasp the bulb socket of the bulb you are changing and turn it counterclockwise then pull it straight out of the housing. Pull the bulb out of the socket and discard it. Install a new bulb into the socket, pushing it in until it seats completely in the socket. 4 Insert the bulb socket into the rear of the taillight housing and turn it clockwise to lock it in place. Position the access panel back over the taillight assembly and turn the retainers clockwise with a Phillips screwdriver to secure it. 5 Close the trunk of the car and turn on the headlight switch to verify the light is working. If the brake light was the bulb that was out, have someone press the brake pedal while you check the light to ensure it illuminates.
Oldsmobile . How to Replace Brake Lights on a Ford Explorer Sport TracThe Ford Explorer Sport Trac is a compact pickup/SUV based on the Explorer platform. The taillights are on the rear of the truck and consist of a plastic taillight assembly and several bulbs that install into the rear of the housing. You must remove the assembly to access the bulbs in it and removal requires just two screwdrivers. The taillight and brake light on your Sport Trac share a dual filament 3157 bulb that is available at any auto parts store. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips screwdriver Flat screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Verify that the headlight switch in the cab of your Sport Trac is off, then move to the back of the truck and lower the tailgate, exposing the three rubber plugs on the inner edge of the bed near the taillight. 2 Pry the three rubber plugs out of the body using a small, flat screwdriver, exposing the screws underneath them. Set the runner plugs aside; you will need them during reassembly. 3 Remove the three screws that retain the taillight assembly using a Phillips screwdriver. Grasp the taillight assembly and pull it straight back from the truck. Locate the bulb socket on the rear of the assembly, turn it counter-clockwise to unlock it then remove the socket and bulb from the assembly. 4 Pull the 3157 bulb out of the housing and discard it. Install a new 3157 bulb into the taillight socket, install the bulb and socket into the rear of the assembly then turn it clockwise to lock it in place. 5 Position the taillight assembly against the back of the truck and slide it into the opening. Install the three retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver then install the three rubber plugs over the screws. Close the tailgate and turn on the headlight switch to verify that the taillight is working. *#ust as the inside of your engine needs lubrication (via oil, as explained in J Chapter 15), other parts of your vehicle need lubrication as well. A lube ^jo b involves applying lubricants (various kinds of grease and oil) to some of the moving parts under your vehicle and to some of the rubber parts to keep them supple. Your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid are lubricants, too. (See the monthly under-the-hood check in Chapter 3 about checking these fluids if you haven't already done so.) The parts of your vehicle that need periodic lubrication can include the steering linkage, transmission shift linkage, clutch linkage, parking brake cables, differential, and driveshaft universal joint fittings. Because some of these are hard to find and hard to reach, most require a special kind of lubricant. Because you can get into trouble if you don't deal with them properly, I suggest that, once or twice a year, you take your vehicle to the dealership or to a good independent repair facility. Have them lubricate everything that needs it — including the distributor, if your vehicle has one. The rest of the time, just lubricate the things that I point out in this chapter, and you'll be way ahead of the game. What do you lubricate when you do a lube job? What tools do you need? And how to you do it? This chapter answers all these questions. !? A ft Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 763

Mercury Capri. * What a Lube Job Grease fittings are those places on your vehicle that hold lubricants to protect moving parts from one another. They must be kept packed with grease to keep the components they protect moving freely without friction. Naturally, these are usually the parts that move the most, except for those inside your engine (which are lubricated with oil). Think about your vehicle and take a look at Figure 16-1. Where does most of the movement take place when you drive (not counting any kids in the backseat)? Well, the front wheels turn on wheel bearings, and they can change direction when you steer because of the steering linkage between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Your vehicle moves up and down on its suspension system and shock absorbers, which keep it level, even when the wheels are bobbing up and down on rough stretches of road. To keep your vehicle young and healthy, lubricate the parts that need it every 3,000 miles. Before you undertake any of the work in this chapter, be sure to review Chapter 11, which tells you all about the steering and suspension systems and describes the grease fittings, where most of the work is done. It's much easier to do a job when you understand what the parts you're working on do and how they relate to one another. . Chapter 16: Lubrication Extends the Life of Your Vehicle The Toots \!ou Need to Do a Lube Job Here's what you need to lubricate your vehicle: v0 A decent grease gun: Borrow one at first; if you hate the job, you won't have made a big investment. If you can't borrow one, buy a cheap one. You can always pass it on to a friend who's just getting into auto maintenance and then buy yourself a super one if you plan to do the job repeatedly. Most grease guns come with a couple of adapters to fit the grease fittings on your car and an extender for hard-to-reach places. If your gun doesn't have these, you can get an adapter or an extender for a couple of dollars if you need one. (You may not. Some grease guns are fitted to take grease cartridges, which save you the time and mess of loading them.) i> The proper kind of grease: The following sections explain what kind of grease you need for each type of job. Another way to find out is to consult your owner's manual, your service manual, or a salesperson at an auto supply store. They have manuals that tell all. Lubricating the Steering System Oldsmobile . Without this grease, the friction would cause the parts to wear away. On some vehicles, all or some of these grease fittings are designed for lifetime lubrication, which means that the grease is pumped in and sealed so that it can't get out. Because this kind of sealed system also prevents dirt, air, and water from getting in, these lifetime lubrication systems seem to last pretty well, and you don't have to lubricate them yourself, ever. Of course, if they break down, installing a whole new part is a bit more expensive, but they don't break down very often. If your owner's manual tells you that your vehicle has one of these systems, be happy, skip the rest of this section, and go on to "Lubricating the Suspension System."
